To and from the airport

  • Busses will be run to and from Melbourne Tullamarine (MEL) airport on Sunday 15th, and back again on Saturday 21st and Sunday 22nd. Signup was made available during registration. The schedule for the airport busses is here: http://linux.conf.au/register/busses. If you did not register for busses, and need to do so, please let us know by emailing info@lcaunderthestars.org.au
  • For Saturday the 21st:
    • As of 11:30am, the 11am bus has run late, but should arrive soon. Currently booked solid, but a few unreported cancellations may have occurred, so show up and try your luck.
    • Space still exists on the 4PM bus.

To and from Ballarat Train Station

To and from alternative accommodation

  • Each morning bus will be departing Red Lion at 8:15am and 8:45am, going via Sov. Hill lodge, Sovereign Park Motel and Mercure to the university
  • Each evening a mini-bus will be running into and out of the CBD starting at 6pm and ending at 10pm. Trips will be approximately 45 minutes apart. This will travel via the alternative accommodation places above.


To and from conference dinners

  • Conference dinners such as;
    • Speakers' dinner
    • Penguin dinner
    • Professional Delegates' Networking Session

will have busses run between the University campus and the dinner venue.

Speakers' Dinner Tuesday 17th at AWESOME SECRET VENUE

  • 3 trips from University residences to AWESOME SECRET VENUE, stopping at Mercure, Sovereign Hill Lodge, Sovereign Park Motel and Red Lion for pick ups. Departure time is between 6pm and 6:15.
  • 3 return trips from AWESOME SECRET VENUE to university residences, again stopping at Mercure, Sovereign Hill Lodge, Sovereign Park Motel and Red Lion. Departure time is approx. 11:00pm (When the show finishes)

Professional Delegates' Networking Session (PDNS) Wednesday 18th at Ballarat Mining Exchange

  • 6 trips departing University (Flagpoles, just outside Caro building) to Mining Exchange (not stopping at alternative accommodation). Departure times are;
    • 2 x 6.15pm
    • 2 x 6.45pm
  • 2 busses leaving directly from alternative accommodation venues. Departure times from Mecure (via other accommodation venues, then to Mining Exchange);
    • 1 x 6.15pm
    • 1 x 6.45pm
  • 8 trips returning from Mining Exchange to all venues. Departure times are;
    • 1 x 7.30pm
    • 1 x 8.00pm
    • 1 x 8.30pm
    • 1 x 9.00pm
    • 1 x 9.30pm
    • 1 x 10.00pm
    • 1 x 10.30pm

Penguin Dinner at Mercure Hotel Thursday 19th

  • 8 trips from University flagpoles to Mercure;
    • 4x depart at 6.15pm
    • 4x depart at 6.45pm
  • 2 trips will be made from the Red Lion, stopping at Sovereign Hill Lodge delivering to Mercure (Times shown are Red Lion departure)
    • 1x 6:15pm
    • 1x 6:45pm
  • 8 trips from Mecure back (stopping at Sovereign Hill Lodge, Sovereign Park Motel and Red Lion)
    • 1 x 8.30pm
    • 1 x 9.00pm
    • 1 x 9.30pm
    • 1 x 10.00pm
    • 2 x 10.30pm
    • 2 x 11.00pm

Observatory tour Friday 20th

  • 1 large bus departing university at 8:15pm heading to observatory.
  • 1 large bus from observatory approx. 11pm. Stops at accommodation venues.

Sovereign Hill show Saturday 21st

  • Several trips starting at 10:30am from university to Sovereign Hill.
  • Return trips starting at 3pm from Sovereign Hill to university.

LUV Barbeque Saturday 21st

  • Busses leaving around 12:30pm from university and sovereign hill to the BBQ.
  • Busses leaving at the end of the BBQ, expected around 2pm, going to sovereign hill and university.

Evening - General trips into Ballarat

  • A Minibus will run constantly from the campus into Ballarat, dropping people at the Ballarat Train Station from 6.00pm until approximately 10.00pm at night. There will be one trip approximately every 45 minutes. Note that this minibus will not run the evenings of Saturday the 21st or Sunday the 22nd.
