Perth, Western Australia - 6th to 10th January 2014
While many developers are now using Agile development methodologies to produce software, most documentation is still produced using traditional waterfall-style methods. This just wasn't cutting it, though, so we developed an entirely new way of planning and writing documentation based on Agile development methods. The days of an author spending months in a draughty garret to produce dry technical documentation are over, the future of documentation is here. Lana Brindley will take you through the model developed and used by authors in the Australian documentation team of the world's largest open source company.
Lana Brindley has been playing with technology since that summer in the 80’s when she got eaten by a grue. She has been writing since she could hold a pencil, and is currently writing technical documentation for Rackspace after spending six years with Red Hat. Lana holds Business degrees in marketing and information systems, and a postgraduate degree in technical communication. Right now, she’s getting her hands dirty on cloud documentation, and raising her very own geek girl. One day she hopes to write the manual for that, too.
